This Marathon event promises to be truly epic, we are very greatfull to the land owners & The Sheep’s Head Way for allowing us to ride sections of the walking route for this event only.

The overall length will be about 52km and 1500 metres of ascent, in one big lap, which is very similar to the figures for the brilliant Carlingford marathon.

The scenery is truly stunning with Bantry bay on one side & Dunmanus bay the other, you‘ll have time to view them as the route climbs over the peninsulas hilly spine 3 times and there is a fantastic run along the ridge at the end of which is a tricky downhill not for the faint hearted!

Expected completion times 3 – 6 hrs. This is our first time running it and we advise you to be as self sufficient as possible (see Donncha’s post on the home page). There will be an open non-competitive event also which will be slightly shorter.
