Capital Bank Cycling Challenge – Botswana

Capital Bank Botswana in association with the Jonmol Cycling Club (JCC) will host the fourth annual Capital Bank Cycling Challenge in 29th of April.

The event will held on Thursday and the bank is launching the P75 000 sponsorship for the same. According to chief executive officer of Capital Bank Botswana, Jaco Viljoen the event would give cyclists various options to choose from cycling. The options are 30 km, 60 km, and 120 km race category and there is also an option of the 5 km children race.

He narrated; this race is part of the bank’s way of helping the community to stay healthy. And with this effort we want to prove that we are more than just a financial institution. He said, “We don’t wish to be just a bank that takes care of the financial welfare of customers. Instead, we want to make sure that we assist the community with wellness and health.,” Jaco further added that cycling had proven that it help in boosting brain power and bringing communities together as in cycling race, the participants are not just the professional cyclist, but also their families and relative.

The bank had also decided that it will also participate in the competition and thus, it is sending four teams of five riders in the 30 km corporate ride. For his part, Jonathan Moletsane, Team Jonmol chairperson commended the bank for the sponsorship, stating that the Jonmol cycling team was the only team present in the community that had no sponsors,

But, that did not de-motivate them to give up what they love. Since their association with Capital Bank, the team had been able to send participants to compete both in the local as well as international races.

“We are raising some athlete for the international championship and now some of our cyclists are in training for the Egypt Continental Africa Championships,” he added.
